Modelling and predicting coastal zone depth profile evolution: a survey

چکیده
Abstract We survey results concerning the problem of identifying depth profiles at coastal zone, which evolve in time due to natural as well anthropic activities. This issue is relevant control modifications environment occurring near sea coastlines, but also river's estuaries and harbors. One main goals predict evolution profile long-term (i.e., over years or decades, say), do this on basis real observed measured data , available several databases. Most mathematical models are formulated terms partial differential equations diffusive type, one two space dimensions. Consequently, from standpoint, aforementioned identification takes form an inverse for some given parabolic equation associated with suitable initial boundary conditions.

Modelling shoreface profile evolution
Current knowledge of hydro-, sediment and morpho-dynamics in the shoreface environment is insufficient to undertake shoreface-profile evolution modelling on the basis of first physical principles. We propose a simple, paneltype model to map observed behaviour. The internal dynamics are determined by slope-dependent, wave-induced cross-shoreface transports, while the external driving factors are...
متن کاملAssessment of Coastal Zone Management Options by Qualitative Modelling
y Abstract Coastal zones are frequently used and to some extent fundamentally transformed by human civilization. The nowadays signiicant inference of natural dynamics and human activities provides the urgent need for scientiically based management and steering options, in order to prevent future catastrophic developments. In this contribution, we exemplify a system analytical approach based on ...

متن کاملMigration and swimming depth of Atlantic salmon kelts Salmo salar in coastal zone and marine habitats
Factors influencing the migration and swimming depth of Atlantic salmon kelts Salmo salar L. within the York Estuary and Gaspé Bay (Québec, Canada), and in the Gulf of St. Lawrence between Gaspé Bay and the Strait of Belle Isle (Newfoundland, Canada) were studied using acoustic telemetry. In 2006 and 2007, a total of 49 kelts were tagged with acoustic transmitters equipped with depth sensors, r...
